With an incredible feeling of warmth and openness, Shabbat is welcomed weekly at Congregation Adas Emuno. Our service begins on Friday evenings at 7:30 PM in our sanctuary as we gather to mark the closing of the week and, for our time together, cast aside the busyness of our lives. An OnegShabbat follows each service and is usually hosted by a congregant who is celebrating a life-cycle event such as an impending birthday, anniversary, baby naming, and of course, a B’Nai Mitzvah of a child or grandchild. Other opportunities to welcome Shabbat are described below.
Tot Shabbat
Tot Shabbat is held once a month on Saturdays from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Youngsters (ages 5 and under) are welcomed with their siblings, parents, and grandparents to partake in a shortened service designed specifically for young children, including singing, prayers, and storytelling. After the service, a “Kiddie Kiddush” is shared in the Social Hall, followed by an arts and crafts program, which provides an additional learning component for the children, through creative and hands-on activities. Family Shabbat
One Friday of each month (beginning at 7:30 PM) from the months of October thru May, we especially invite the families of children in our Religious School to join us for Family Shabbat . Each month, a selected class participates in the worship service. The families come together and enjoy a Shabbat pot luck dinner before the service, adding to our community feeling.
