SHABBAT AT CONGREGATION ADAS EMUNO

With an incredible feeling of warmth, Shabbat is welcomed weekly at Congregation Adas Emuno. Our service begins on Friday evenings at 7:30 PM in our sanctuary as we gather to mark the closing of the week and, for our time together, cast aside the busyness of our lives. An Oneg Shabbat follows each service and is usually hosted by a congregant who is celebrating a life-cycle event such as an impending birthday, anniversary, baby naming, and of course, a B’Nai Mitzvah of a child or grandchild. Our alternative services to welcome Shabbat are described below.

Tot Shabbat
First Friday of each month (beginning at 6:30 PM) is our Tot Shabbat service which precedes our weekly service. Youngsters (ages 5 and under) are welcomed with their siblings, parents, and grandparents to partake in a shortened service designed specifically for young children, including singing, prayer, and a story. The children spend a portion of the service up on our Bimah with our spiritual leader. At the conclusion of this service, all look forward to their own special Oneg Shabbat.
Kehillat Kavanah Meditation Service

First Saturday morning of each month: (beginning at 9:00 AM) Our Cantor presides over a non-traditional Kehillat Kavanah Meditation service. Through movement and prayer, Shabbat is welcomed in an alternative way. This service meets in our Social Hall (rather than in our Sanctuary) and attendees are encouraged to wear loose clothing and to bring a mat and/or towel. Please check the temple calendar or call the office for exact dates.

I have found Kehillat Kavannah to be a wonderful and much-needed opportunity to reenergize--both emotionally and spiritually. Cantor Shapiro offers a place of reflection and prayer through movement, stillness, sacred passages and silence. I am so grateful to have the chance to give this gift to myself and to experience and meditate upon the wisdom of the ages. I hope you will take an hour away from the daily routine and rush, one Saturday per month, to nourish yourself and to rekindle the inner light within. - A.R., Member

Family Shabbat
One Friday of each month (beginning at 7:30 PM) from the months of October thru May, we especially invite our families with young children to join us for Family Shabbat. During Family Shabbat services, our Religious School students assist our Spiritual Leader. Each month, a selected class participates in the service. The families of our students come together and enjoy a Shabbat dinner before the service, adding to our community feeling.
Shabbat Meyuchad

A musical Shabbat afternoon service for people with developmental disabilities and their families, this service is held on the first Saturday of each month at 2 PM. See the temple calendar for the dates.
